At Top Branch Tree Services, we aim to provide a friendly, reliable and honest service to customers needing tree surgery work in Thanet and the surrounding areas. We take pride in the way our work looks, and in the way we clear up once we have finished a job. We always strive to offer our customers the best prices we possibly can through continual investment in the company. Investing in training and in new equipment allows us to increase efficiency and provide a better, more comprehensive package to our customers.
Tree surgery operations are heavily dependant on fossil fuels, petrol for the chainsaws and diesel for the trucks and chippers. We try to minimise our carbon footprint in a number of ways. Firstly we minimise the use of the petrol chainsaws all the time. We use sharp hand pruning saws for a lot of reduction work and also our new, battery powered chainsaw which is specially designed for small scale, light aerial work. Secondly, we only use biodegradable chain oils all of the time. All chain oil is lost into the environment, be it your garden or a woodland. Non-biodegradeable chain oils are harmful to the environment and do not break down like biodegradable oils. Thirdly, we recycle all of the waste we produce. Sawdust is used for animal bedding, logs are sold on to be used as a sustainable fuel source and branches are passed through our chipper to create an excellent mulch.
Sometimes, we have to remove old and beautiful trees. Often this is unavoidable, but we have some methods to try and neutralise the affects of our actions. Firstly, we avoid the removal of trees where possible, and if a tree must be removed we always encourage re-planting in the same spot or nearby. Secondly, we can create habitat poles, leaving part of the stem of a tree that needed removal at a safe height which can still be used by a variety of wildlife. Thirdly we can supply and install bat boxes and bird boxes into neighbouring trees to try and increase the habitat value elsewhere.
Health and Safety
Tree surgery is a dangerous profession and is responsible for a number of accidents and injuries every year, so health and safety is something we take extremely seriously at Top Branch. Our workers are NPTC qualified for the roles that they play in the team. We continually invest in training, which makes our work practices safer, as well as increasing how efficiently our business operates. We are also exposed to fumes all day, every day which can have bad long term health effects. When we have long days of hedge trimming, we will often use ‘Aspen fuel’ so that our team do not have to breath in harmful fumes.
This is 99% cleaner than standard fuel from a fuel station, making it better for the environment, the tools we use, and most importantly for our own health and well being. To find out even more about us, click here to visit our blog to see what we get up to!
